Dr. Fritz Wetzel

Dr. Fritz Wetzel is a German and European Patent Attorney who has been practicing intellectual property law since 2002, with a strong focus on chemistry-related matters. His areas of expertise include organic and inorganic chemistry, polymer chemistry, plastics engineering, pigments and dyes, liquid crystals, LCD and OLED technologies, biochemistry, bioorganic chemistry, pharmaceuticals, process engineering, biotechnology, and medical technology.
He has extensive experience in drafting patent applications, prosecution, legal opinions, licensing and other contracts, litigation, opposition and nullity proceedings, as well as in trademark and design law. Another key area of his practice is IP due diligence and advising companies in M&A transactions.
In 2023, Fritz established BlackIP legal, a full-service IP law firm, providing comprehensive patent, trademark, and design services — from initial consultation to the enforcement of IP rights.
Fritz is frequently invited to give lectures on intellectual property, particularly in Asia (China, Korea, Japan, and Thailand). He is admitted to practice before the European Patent Office, the German Patent and Trademark Office, the Federal Patent Court, and the Federal Court of Justice for nullity proceedings. He is also a registered European trademark and design attorney and serves as CFO and honorary member of the IP Competence Network.
Werner Schwarz

Werner studied physics, chemistry and astronomy and was 16 years active in research and development and head of IP in the automotive industry.
Since 2003 he is independent management consultant in patent law, organization, research, analysis, speaker at patent seminars and lecturer at DHBW Karlsruhe and CAS Heilbronn.
Werner is our specialist for physical and technical innovations. With his background as a physicist, he has a deep understanding of areas such as the automotive industry and related technologies. His ability to combine technical details with legal strategies makes him an invaluable advisor to our clients who operate at the interface between technology and law.
Martin Schwarz

Martin Schwarz is a Patent Professional. He studied technical physics and worked 3 years in research and development in photovoltaic applications.
